The InneReam® system is a trademark of Nowak Pipe Reaming, Inc. and is the marque of a patented (US Patent No. 5580188, Canadian Patent No. 2,226,979, Mexican Patent No. 206, 469, European Union Patent No. 96925381.4 ( AUT, BEL, CHE/LIE, DEU, DNK, ESP, FIN, FRA, GRC, IRL, ITA, LUX, MCO, NLD, PRT, SWE, UK) system of trenchless pipe line replacement whereby the existing pipe is ground up into small particles, mixed with the drilling fluid, flushed through the existing pipe to a retrieval point for removal, and the replacement pipe pulled into place simultaneously.
The process is commercially referred to as "Pipe Reaming" and/or the InneReam® System.
Pipe Bursting
Is an industry accepted term for a patented (now expired) process, held by Advantica Technologies, Inc., of trenchless pipe line replacement whereby the pipe is expanded (bursted) from the inside to allow for the passage of a replacement pipe.

Host Pipe Removal
The host pipe is removed along with the peripheral material (when upsizing) by being mixed with the drilling fluid and flushed through the existing pipe to a manhole or other retrieval point for disposal. Removal of the host pipe, as well as the excess material when upsizing, prevents the possibility of damage to adjacent utilities and surface improvements due to volumetric expansion as is the case when bursting. This effect is more pronounced when shallow replacement depths are encountered (effect on paving), fragile utilities i.e., water lines, duct banks, meter pits, etc, are nearby and the surrounding soil is incompressible.
Non-Disruptive

Extreme Length Installation
Installation lengths of 1,000+ feet are easily performed using the InneReam® system, the maximum length limited by pipe tensile strength, machine capacity, and an analysis of the replacement environment.
Low Initial Investment
The initial investment for a directional drill owner is $2,000, for the license period (1 year), plus in-house shop expense to modify a standard reamer(s) or reamer purchase from a number of HDD suppliers. Contact Nowak Pipe Reaming for details.
Upsizing
Upsizing to two (2) diameters is possible, subject to a project specific review. Less radical upsizing is essentially routine.
Material Choice
InneReam® offers the choice of Restrained Joint PVC, Fusible PVC, HDPE, or Restrained Joint Ductile Iron Pipe at the owners discretion, each having distinctive characteristics to satisfy practically all applications.
Cast Iron Replacement
Cast iron cannot be replaced with the InneReam® system.
Versatile Equipment Use
Directional drill owners are not limited by having to allocate an expensive piece of equipment to only one area of work, but can create a new profit center for the machine(s) using the InneReam® system.
Equipment Rental Available
Utility contractors who do not own directional drills, but wishing to enter the trenchless market without heavy investment, can rent a horizontal directional drill (HDD).
Low Tooling Costs
Directional drill owners can modify compaction reamers for use with the InneReam® system in their shop without incurring the cost of a new reamer. Nowak will assist client in reamer configuration. Compared to the purchase of a hydraulic or pneumatic bursting head, the cost is minuscule.
Standard Equipment
Standard equipment, e.g., horizontal directional drill (HDD) w/support equipment, vacuum truck, backhoe, are the tools typically used in the process. No piece of equipment is employed for the system that cannot be used in other areas of work.
Technical Support
Nowak will support the licensee in every way necessary to ensure a successful operation. Pipe bursting system companies also provide required technical support.
